The Role
As crucial members of every project team, Researchers are involved throughout the entire search process in various capacities, from supporting business development opportunities to leading search execution to closing assignments. They need an ownership mentality and strong project management skills to ensure that project teams are meeting specific client needs. Because Researchers work on multiple client engagements simultaneously, they have the opportunity to gain insight into the leadership strategies and business challenges faced by top Life Sciences firms. Ideal candidates for the Research role have strong business acumen, astute interpersonal judgement, and excellent communication skills.
Primary Responsibilities

Search Process/Execution

  • Create and execute extensive and detailed sourcing strategies and research frameworks for all relevant assignments
  • Generate comprehensive lists of target companies, industry associations, and all other relevant sourcing targets
  • Master corporate organizational and functional structure and drive effective research strategies within that structure
  • Utilize third party and proprietary databases to identify high quality candidates and benchmark them according to client needs
  • Identify best-in-class candidates for Recruiters, Business Developers, and clients
  • Document market insights gathered during the search/project process and share with project teams and the firm in a concise and retrievable format
  • Collaborate with Operations Associates and Recruiters to create client status reports and other project-related marketplace documents
  • Remain fully abreast of search/project developments in order to communicate accurately, quickly, and credibly with Business Developers, Recruiters and Operations Associates

Business Development

  • Monitor specific markets and conduct background research leveraging both research tools and business contacts
  • Develop client-ready presentations, reports, and pitches that reflect current market and client knowledge
  • Utilize Microsoft Office programs to their highest functional and creative capabilities
  • Support Business Developers at pitches and client meetings

Knowledge Management

  • Develop and maintain executive and company information for assignments and pipelining projects
  • Update candidate/company/industry research data within spreadsheets and the database
  • Maintain the highest quality control standards for data entry to maximize knowledge capture in the recruitment database
  • Own the maintenance of the recruitment database with daily capture of all relevant information gathered throughout the search/project
  • Be proactive about contributing to projects outside assigned workload, in support of the larger firm
  • Share marketplace and industry news with the firm

People Development

  • Participate in training and on-boarding of new hires across all functions of the firm
  • Support, mentor, and develop junior members of the team, as appropriate

Qualifications

Ideal Experience

  • Undergraduate degree from a respected institution
  • Experience in a service-based business, preferably within a search or consulting firm
  • Experience in an environment where multiple projects and competing demands are standard
  • Exceptional Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
  • Aptitude for learning new technologies
  • Database experience a plus
  • Either current knowledge of Life Sciences with an informed view of the industry or the capacity and the desire to learn
